Water Babies - "Come on in, the water's fine!"
House Plants
$65.00
If these beautiful house plants could talk, you might possibly hear the invitation to “come on in, the water’s fine!” Water babies thrive with their roots wading happily in water. Watching them grow is a botanical wonder! If you wonder, “how do they survive without the nutrients of the soil?” like I often ponder, the answer lies in oxygen-rich water, a good light source and the occasional feeding with water-soluble fertiliser.
Peace Lily.
Moderate growth rate, now producing lots of leaves. I love the Peace Lily. Its white flower has a definite serene vibe. Yet to flower. Vase size 20 x 20cm.
Snake Plant.
This Water Baby is producing more leaves at the base. It looks great nestled in the bulb vase, and has a great root system developing. Height is approximately 50cm. Vase size 20 x 20cm. Moderate growth rate.
I Love Swiss Cheese.
This Water Baby has a growing root system. Peaking about 20cm above the top of the vase (20 x 20cm) now with more leaves coming. It will start to create a flowing vine. Moderate to fast growth rate.
Lucky Bamboo.
This Water Baby is surprisingly slower to grow compared to those that rapidly grow in dirt. Nevertheless there are new leaves growing from the established root system. I'm excited to watch this plant develop as it grows. Lucky Bamboo is a plant that you can manipulate around a stake to make a spiral stem. Vase size 20 x 20cm.
Inch Plant.
I swear, this plant grows an inch a week. Fast growth rate is an understatement. I guess that's why its called an Inch Plant. Great root system. Hanging down about 70cm long. Produces pretty white flowers that looks just like its leaves. Definitely a favourite Water Baby. Vase size 20 x 20cm, sitting on a black planter in photo (not included).
How to care for your Water Baby:
Every now and then when I remember, but probably about every few months, I do this -
Fill a large bowl with fresh water
Gently lift the plant out of its vase and into the bowl of water, keeping the roots submerged
Clean the vase with a mild detergent, removing any algae
Fill the vase with water, adding a liquid hydroponic type fertilizer. I use Growth Technology Foliage Focus
Carefully nestle the plant back into the clean vase of water
Watch it grow!
